Week 5 of our series on the I AM statements of Jesus takes us to the village of Bethany where Jesus arrives later than expected to meet the sisters of Lazarus who has just died. It is in his interaction with this family that Jesus proclaims, "I AM the resurrection and the life." The text teaches us that His ways and thoughts are higher than ours, that His compassion meets us in our deepest moments of despair, and that He holds the authority over the strongest power on earth...death!
